FREMONT, CA: Voxology, a Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS), has selected 6WIND vRouter to help with its development. 6WIND is a networking software company specializing in the virtual router (vRouter) solutions around the world. SIP termination, SIP origination, SMS, local phone and toll-free numbers, as well as their next-generation Programmable Voice and Messaging API are all available through Voxology.

“Moving to 6WIND allowed us to add the capacity we need without having to purchase expensive, enterprise hardware. The ability to easily add commodity 10/40/100G NICS and license by throughput, instead of by port, was especially attractive to us. It was the biggest factor in switching from Cisco to 6WIND.” Karsten Leone, Director of Telecom and Infrastructure, Voxology

As Voxology’s infrastructure requirements increased, the company sought a border router that could complement its existing Cisco 10G ASR series routers by offering similar features but better performance and management at a lower cost and greater flexibility in interface choices. 6WIND provided this option with vRouter software, which can be mounted on commodity, standardized servers and deployed with off-the-shelf NICs in the size and quantity required by Voxology. 6WIND Turbo Routers met Voxology’s specifications. The Turbo Routers were set up with peerings to major cloud services, third-party exchanges, and direct customers by the Voxology team. Furthermore, Voxology is mainly reliant on the BGP and OSPF features of the 6WIND Turbo Router. The team intends to replace their remaining Cisco ASRs with 6WIND Turbo Routers in the future.

Featured in Enterprise Networking Magazine’s “Top 10 Networking Solution Providers in Europe–2020,” 6WIND is heavily invested in the networking markets worldwide, especially in Europe, the Americas, and the Asia Pacific. “We are networking technology experts and always deliver on our promises; often exceeding expectations. 6WIND will continue to support its clients in addressing all their networking and communication needs more effectively and innovatively,” says Julien Dahan, CEO, 6WIND.

Voxology’s engineers utilize 6WIND Turbo Router’s standard CLI for management, and like the flexibility versus competing router vendors’ CLIs, including Juniper Junos OS and Cisco IOS. The team also discovered that using downloadable trial tools to rapidly onboard had major advantages. The routers can handle up to 10,000-20,000 concurrent phone calls during the first phase of deployment (signaling and media).

With 6WIND vRouters, Voxology was able to:

• Rapidly deploy replacement routers with no downtime;

• Achieve the best cost-performance ratio with substantially more capacity;

• Expand their edge networks and put up new peers quickly; and

• Achieve the lowest TCO.
