Services with up to 400G wavelengths and services with multiple terabit spectrums are now available.
FREMONT, CA: Uniti Group Inc. has introduced the Wave Lease product by deploying a state-of-the-art Open Line System over portions of its Florida network, with plans to expand countrywide. Uniti will provide its customers 100G and 400G wavelength services and multiple-terabit spectrum services via this deployment.
Uniti’s customers can acquire their transponders through the Unitis Wave Lease solution to manage the ever-changing expenses connected with photonics and C+L Band support technology evolutions. The Uniti’s line system is based on Ciena RLS technology and enables C+L Band capabilities for Spectrum and 100G-400G conventional Wavelength Services. The routes connect the key Florida markets of Tampa and Miami via physically different approaches while also enabling multi-Terabit add-drop capability in additional Florida cities, including Orlando, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, and Daytona Beach. Additionally, the system has been extended to Atlanta and cable landing sites in Jacksonville.
By the end of 2021, the initial Florida markets are scheduled to be operational with traffic. Uniti intends to deploy comparable systems on additional high-demand, long-haul routes throughout its 123,000-mile national network in the coming quarters.
“Our Wave Lease product provides a high-capacity, flexible bandwidth solution with a more efficient cost structure than traditional waves and less operational complexity than dark fiber,” says Greg Ortyl, President of Wholesale & Strategic Accounts at Uniti Group. “Although we already offer wavelengths and dark fiber solutions as part of our product portfolio, we are expecting significant growth from our Wave Lease product in the coming years.”
