FREMONT, CA: Qosmos, a provider of Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and network intelligence technology unveiled a significant development in protocol recognition and first operational access for new DPI component products built for SDN and NFV architecture.
The DPI software embedded in networking products helps in identifying data travelling over networks in real time, providing a true picture of the traffic by identifying protocols. OpenStack and OpenDaylight managed technology also helps in detecting the types of application and extracting additional information in the form of metadata.
The tool is widely used by equipment makers, telco, enterprise software vendors and cloud service providers in order to access visibility into application and accelerate time to market benefits from continuous signature updates.
Qosmos has garnered rave reviews for being industry first in reaching 2500 protocols, which is more than any other similar type of technology. Other than that, the company also ranks high in extracting thousands of application metadata across 30 categories. The recognition rate of fully encrypted protocols, are based on new statistical algorithms with self-learning capabilities which correctly identifies 95 percent of the time. The first DPI and network intelligence component products for SDN and NFV combine a range Qosmos tools that includes, firstly Qosmos DPI VNFC which can optimize a virtual Evolved Packet Core, feeding real-time traffic information to a virtual PDA-Gateway that can trigger multiple functions such as Quality Of Service (QoS) management or traffic shaping. Then, there is Qosmos Layer 7 Service Classifier, essential for dynamic, application-aware service chaining, for Gi-LAN or cloud based vCPE. Lastly the Qosmos Service Aware Module (SAM) which adds service awareness to virtual switches and conveys real-time layer 4-7 intelligence through an open API designed to enable short development cycles.
