New Smart Managed Switch from NetGear to bring in High Speed Networking

By Enterprise Networking Mag | Thursday, June 07, 2018

FREMONT, CA: Back in 2013, Netgear had launched the XS708E (8x 10GBASE-T with 1x shared 10G SFP+) unmanaged switch, the XS712T (12x 10GBASE-T with 2x shared 10G SFP+) smart managed switch and the XSM7224 (24x 10GBASE-T with 4x 10G SFP+) fully managed switch. Bringing a new member to its portfolio of smart managed switched family, Netgear announced the general availability of ProSafe 28-port 10-Gigabit also known as XS728T, a 28-port (24 copper, 4 SFP+) switch designed with 10GBASE-T connectivity and Advanced L2+/Layer 3 Lite features.

The appliance is designed to help alleviate performance bottlenecks and enable smoother deployment of services on the same converged platform, despite unpredictable bandwidth demands relating to new technologies such as virtualization, cloud-based services, and applications like VoIP, video streaming and IP surveillance.

Aiming small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) requirements, the model offers much more than just bare speed with its key attributes that includes Advanced VLAN (Protocol-based, MAC-based and 802.1x Guest VLAN); Advanced QoS with L2/L3/L4 awareness plus 8 priority queues with WRR (weighted round robin) priority queuing; static routing including IPv6, private VLAN, dynamic VLAN assignment, IGMP and MLD snooping; advanced security; and IPv6 support for management, QoS and ACL which gives organizations a cost-effective way to provide 10G connections to 10G-capable servers and NAS systems.

The appliance is backed by a lifetime hardware warranty and offers a user-friendly Web-based management graphical user interface (GUI) or PC-based Smart Control Center application for multi-switch deployment.

The switching service also offers an array of 10-Gigabit switch solutions, spanning small server clusters to network aggregation, and from workgroup labs to network backbones.
