Mellanox Open Ethernet Switches Gains Industry Momentum

By Enterprise Networking Mag | Friday, November 30, 2018

SUNNYVALE, CA: Mellanox Technologies, supplier of InfiniBand and Ethernet interconnect solutions and services, exhibited its Ethernet switch solutions in a large Azure Cloud Switch (ACS) with SAI demonstration at the recently held event of London SIGCOMM conference. This solution efficiently enables converged data centers to operate with reduced operational cost and infrastructure complexity.

Mellanox Open Ethernet switch solutions along with Open Compute Project (OCP) Switch Abstraction Interface (SAI) software enable application and Ethernet protocol stack to seamlessly operate on the switch hardware platform. It offers high performance and port density with a complete chassis and fabric management solution.

These Open Ethernet Switches and Software with multi-vendor operability, delivers choice and flexibility making the Ethernet data centers most cost effective. Users can customize the network infrastructure and gain benefit from a far more scalable, lower latency, and virtualized fabric with lesser overall fabric costs and power consumption. These switches offer more simplified management process than traditional Ethernet fabrics.

Mellanox fabric management provides a high bandwidth that enables IT managers to meet the needs of the company while solving networking problem like congestion and inefficiencies generated by unnecessary rules.

“We are glad to see more vendors in the community adopting the SAI generic API as the interface for open switching software solutions. Open Ethernet is the key not just for reducing data centers CAPEX and OPEX, but also for enabling innovations and competitive advantage for users and applications.” says Gilad Shainer, Vice President of Marketing at Mellanox Technologies.
