IRVINE, CA: With virtualized cloud service providers' all through the industry, it becomes difficult for the next-gen Ethernet for increased flow processing. To deal with this, Broadcom, provider of semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications has come up with BCM57300 NetXtreme C-Series to meet the needs of cloud-scale data centers.
The NetXtreme C-Series controllers offer bidirectional 50G throughput with 30Mpps performance for datacenter to support higher virtual machine density. The series when combined with StrataXGS Tomahawk Ethernet Switch delivers 25/50G end-to-end solution for data centers. The combination avoids network congestion and delivers better workload performance. The BCM57300 NetXtreme C-Series gives rapid, hardware-based, congestion notification responses that are 5,000 times faster than traditional software-based approaches.
"NetXtreme C-Series raises the bar for Ethernet controllers and enables a cost-effective path from 10G to 25G," says Rajiv Ramaswami, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Infrastructure & Networking Group, Broadcom. "Pushing the 25/50G Ethernet specification, which Broadcom defined and co-founded as an industry standard, to the server endpoint solidifies Broadcom's end-to-end offering."
The series comprises TruFlow engine that extends the network edge into server Network Interface Card (NIC).It enables data center operators to move this virtual switching from the host CPU into the Broadcom C-Series Controller, increasing available CPU cycles for application processing, and application performance up to 50 percent; distributes flow processing into the server endpoints, allowing data center growth without impacting network and application performance thereby reducing the complexity in network scaling and management; executes Software Defined Networking protocol constructs into BCM57300 help cloud operators with SDN benefits using flexible, scalable and dynamic network.
